Knowledge Sharing on air quality with the Cutler Community Forum, South Africa

Dr Ian James of WKC Group’s Durban office presented on air quality to members of the Cutler Community Forum in November 2016. This included representatives from industry, community and local Government members. The Cutler complex forms part of the Durban harbour and covers an area of approximately 116 hectares. The complex has been primarily developed as a major bulk storage and handling facility for chemical and petroleum products in both gas and liquid form. With the complex housing fuel depots and bulk terminals among other things.

The Cutler Community forum gained its name from the Cutler Complex and was established to discuss areas of interest to the immediate community around Island View. These issues include odour complaints, transport or traffic matters, health related issues and emergency event communication. The working group is aimed to pro-actively engage between the community, industry and the municipality on these issues and is coordinated by Phelamanga, an organisation dedicated to policy creation and community participation.
