WKC Group Engineers Undertake the Detailed Noise Modelling Study for the Karbala Refinery Project in Iraq

WKC Group recently undertook a detailed noise modelling study for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Phase of the Karbala Refinery Project (KRP), located 100km south of Baghdad, Iraq.

The Iraqi oil ministry awarded the US$6 billion contract to the Korean consortium of Hyundai Engineering and Construction (HDEC), Hyundai Engineering Co Ltd (HEC), GS Engineering and Construction (GS E&C), and SK Engineering and Construction (SK E&C). The KRP is envisaged to have a capacity of 140,000 barrels per day (bpd) and will be equipped to produce liquid petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline and petrol, aviation turbine kerosene, kerosene, diesel, heavy diesel, fuel oil, bitumen, and solid sulphur.

In terms of project scope and magnitude, with an approximate footprint of 6 km squared and 1,500 modelled equipment items, it was the largest acoustic study undertaken by WKC engineers to date.
