WKC Group completes an Environmental Baseline Survey in Qatar

WKC recently undertook an environmental baseline survey within the Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) on the North Eastern coast of the State of Qatar. Ras Laffan lies on the North Field, the largest gas field in the world with more than 900 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves. As part of an upcoming development of the on-shore elements of the North Field, WKC completed a series of baseline surveys in order to determine pre-development conditions for two sites, totalling an area of approximately 1,700 hectares. The Project itself covers areas which include a number of habitat types and important plant and animal species.

Surveys were undertaken by Doug Tilbury, an environmental consultant operating out of WKCs Dubai office, over a period of four days. Project areas were surveyed for noise, soil quality and terrestrial ecology, and drew upon WKC’sĀ unrivaled track record of professional environmental service delivery throughout the Middle East.

This type of baseline survey is crucial to providing a complete and accurate assessment to support a robust EIA process for such a milestone development.
