Flagship Projects in Jordan
JPRC Refinery Expansion Project
The refinery expansion is proposed to increase its capacity from the existing 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 120,000 bpd in order to meet the needs of the Jordanian market for high-value products. The expansion plan will also make way for the refinery to upgrade its fuel quality to the Euro V emission standards. WKC led the delivery of the ESIA in accordance with international lender requirements. The ESIA was delivered within an extremely tight timeframe, which allowed the project to proceed to the next stage of both financing and design.
Wind Farm Projects
As one of the biggest sources of renewable energy, the development of wind farms has seen a surge, particularly in Jordan. WKC’s role over numerous wind farm projects in Jordan has largely been analysing the noise impact from the operation of the wind turbines on the surrounding noise sensitive environment. SoundPLAN has been used to build models of wind farms which can predict the noise level at any assessed receptor. From this, the likely impact from noise can be concluded. As wind turbine blades rotate, they can cast shadows over nearby properties, and so shadow flicker assessments have been an integral part of the environmental assessments, as well as the visual impact.
