What is volume and how do we measure it?

Volume is the measure of 3 dimensional space (this can be the volume occupied by a specific object or a fluid, or it could even be an arbitrary volume in space).

For simple shapes with perfectly perpendicular edges (like a square), volume is calculated by the product of the length of the edges occupied in each of the 3 perpendicular dimensions in 3-dimensional space.

Use this online volume unit conversion calculator to easily convert between cubic centimetre (cm3), cubic metre (m3), litre (L), cubic inch (in3), cubic foot (ft3), US gallons (US gal), Imperial gallons (Imp. gallon) and US barrel (US brl).
