What is volumetric flow and how do we measure it?
Volumetric flow is the measure of volume passing through an arbitrary system boundary over a specified unit of time. Therefore, volumetric flow rate is calculated by determining the total volume of fluid that moves through the system boundary (this could be the opening or cross section of a pipe, duct, vent, tap etc.) and dividing it by the duration of time taken to move through that boundary or area.
Use our free online volumetric flow unit conversion calculator to easily convert between different units of volumetric flow including litres per second (L/s), litres per minute (L/min), cubic metres per hour (m³/hour), cubic feet per minute (ft³/min), cubic feet per minute (ft³/hour), gallons per minute (gal/min) and US barrels per day (US brl/d).
